Senses: Gateways to Reconnect with the Spirit
The other day, I found myself seated at the beach, gazing at the stars and listening to the rhythmic waves of the sea...
In that moment, I experienced an unparalleled presence within my body and the unfolding present moment. I felt a gentle breeze tenderly caressing my skin and the melodic symphony of the waves intimately embracing my ears. Each inhalation filled my lungs with the essence of life, a sensation of pure vitality coursing through me.
It was a profound instance of immense gratitude for the gift of incarnation in this unique body and personality.
Following that night, I came to realize the profound potency of our senses and how deeply our upbringing and the way that most of societies are formed has impacted our relationship with them.
The senses serve as portals that guide us into the depths of our being. Through them, we can journey inward with unwavering presence, unveiling solutions and answers to life's inquiries. If our body is likened to a temple, the senses represent its various gates, all leading to a sacred inner sanctum—the altar of our spirit.
However, religion and patriarchal norms have severed our connection to these gateways and the inherent spirit within our bodies. In many religious and spiritual practices, there's often an attempt to locate the spirit outside of our physical form. Such approaches can lead to profound confusion, as they encourage the rejection of our corporeal existence in pursuit of spiritual attainment. While these methods may foster the development of a formidable spiritual ego, they fail to facilitate genuine reconnection with the source.
Moreover, if we've chosen to embody ourselves on this remarkable planet within these multifaceted, pleasure-filled vessels, how can we justify leaving the spirit detached from it?
I firmly believe that we are all divine beings inhabiting physical bodies, here for a multitude of reasons...
Some of them are to perpetually celebrate our divinity through the myriad sensations that our senses transmit and to express our boundless love and gratitude for their consciousness and wisdom.
